Feature changed by: Michael Calmer (mcalmer)
Feature #308980, revision 12
Title: Remove HAL support from libzypp and YaST

- openSUSE-11.3: Evaluation
+ openSUSE-11.3: Done
Priority
Requester: Mandatory
Projectmanager: Mandatory

Requested by: Andreas Jaeger (a_jaeger)

Description:
HAL is depreciated and should be removed by all software where openSUSE
or Novell is upstream for openSUSE 11.3.
I'm not sure exactly where hal is used so please evaluate and create if
necessary additional features.

Relations:
- Remove Hal by default on openSUSE 11.3 (feature/id: 308762)
- Remove hal (novell/bugzilla/id: 576190)
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=576190

Discussion:
#1: Andreas Jaeger (a_jaeger) (2010-02-11 11:19:21)
Kai mentioned: Yast uses HAL to _prevent_ automounting by the running
desktop. If needed, it should be replaced by a call to: devkit-disks --
inhibit

#2: Michael Andres (mlandres) (2010-04-26 17:48:11)
libzypp-7.2.0 no longer requires HAL. Instead libudev is used to
detecte the available DC/DVD devices.

+ #3: Michael Calmer (mcalmer) (2010-04-27 10:52:08) (reply to #2)
+ I set the status to done.
