Feature changed by: Christoph Thiel (cthiel1)
Feature #305104, revision 26
Title: Provide possibility to configure WEP/WPA/WPA2/... at
installation
openSUSE-11.1: Rejected by Andreas Jaeger (a_jaeger)
reject date: 2008-09-11 09:23:05
reject reason: Rejecting for 11.1, let's move to 11.2.
Priority
Requester: Desirable
openSUSE-11.2: Rejected by Christoph Thiel (cthiel1)
reject date: 2009-07-16 17:53:35
reject reason: out of resources for 11.2.
Priority
Requester: Desirable
Projectmanager: Desirable
- openSUSE-11.3: Evaluation
+ openSUSE-11.3: Rejected by (cthiel1)
+ reject date: 2010-03-08 16:39:08
+ reject reason: out of resources for 11.3.
Priority
Requester: Desirable
Projectmanager: Important
Requested by: Jim Creech (jimcreech)
Description:
It is possible to configure a network in the first stage installation
but it is only possible to select DHCP or Static + configure proxy. It
is impossible to configure a secure wireless connection.
See also: Bug 293609
(https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=293609) - No provision for
entering WEP at installation
Discussion:
#1: Kevin Dupuy (kdupuy9) (2009-03-26 00:36:44)
Agree absolutely. So annoying to have to move computer to my wired
router in another room to simply install openSUSE.
#2: Christoph Thiel (cthiel1) (2009-05-26 20:20:57)
Isn't this implemented already?
#3: Lukas Ocilka (locilka) (2009-06-09 10:00:45) (reply to #2)
No, it's not. You can't configure wireless connection in first stage
(Well, you can by running Linuxrc in expert mode...).
Actually, you don't often need it for new installation, but you do for
upgrade.
