Feature changed by: Rajesh Ganesan (ganesanrajesh) Feature #308592, revision 12 Title: Include KDE 4.5 in opensuse 11.3 openSUSE-11.3: Unconfirmed Priority Requester: Important Requested by: jimbo bigcreed (dimble_thricefoon) Description: both are currently due in July, i feel 11.3 should include 4.5. discuss. Discussion: #1: jimbo bigcreed (dimble_thricefoon) (2009-12-22 14:43:23) yes, it would knock 11.3 back by a month or two, in my opinion that would be worth the end result. #2: Todd R (theblackcat) (2010-01-05 18:24:52) I agree. There are a number of big changes scheduled for 4.5, including the KDE PIM switch to akonadi, so I think making people wait another 8 months for them would be a big mistake. #3: Markus K (kamikazow) (2010-01-12 02:52:28) KDE SC 4.5 will be released in August, not July. It is delayed, because 4.4 was pushed back to February to do more testing with Qt 4.6. February + six months = August. #4: Petr L (ptrsn) (2010-01-22 13:06:16) I'm ready to wait on 11.3 release longer because of the KDE 4.5 SC. #5: Floris Erich (florisjuh) (2010-02-04 11:00:36) I don't think openSUSE should change it's roadmap to match the roadmap for other projects. If we do that for KDE, you open pandora's box for requests from all the other projects we rely on. Besides, I think any user which requires to have the latest and greatest version of KDE, probably knows how to update it without a total distribution update. + #6: Rajesh Ganesan (ganesanrajesh) (2010-02-16 12:59:58) + Yes ... I agree with Mr Erich. openSUSE should not alter its roadmap. + For those who need the latest, we do have the buildservice ... -- openSUSE Feature: https://features.opensuse.org/308592
