Feature changed by: Joop Boonen (worldcitizen) Feature #305929, revision 4 Title: Startup in X even when the xorg.conf fails openSUSE-11.2: Unconfirmed Priority Requester: Important openSUSE-11.3: Unconfirmed Priority Requester: Important Requested by: Joop Boonen (worldcitizen) Description: As there are more and more new users within openSuSE with less knowledge. I was thinking it's an option to boot in Vesa when the original xorg.conf fails. Than the user is still able to fix the problem via a GUI i.e. YaST and SAX. Discussion: #1: Rajko Matovic (rajko_m) (2009-03-01 14:58:20) Failsafe boot option should provide that, or you have some other idea, like to attempt to start Xorg again with xorg.install file if first start ends with error. + #2: Joop Boonen (worldcitizen) (2009-03-01 17:21:53) (reply to #1) + Fail boot does that indeed. I was thinking of an automatic fall back on + X when xorg.conf fails, with a kdm i.e. *dm screen that shows the the + xorg configuration failed, maybe including help how to to go about to + fix it. + I think the Fail Boot option is ideal but you need to know about this + option to use it. I was thinking it might be extra helpful. -- openSUSE Feature: https://features.opensuse.org/305929
