I use imapsync, currently 1.727-lp151.2.1.noarch, to sync my laptops with my desktop machine.

No. I don't have it installed. Names are a bit confusing: imapsync, mailsync... cer@Telcontar:~> rpm -q imapsync imapsync-1.727-lp151.2.1.noarch cer@Telcontar:~> rpm -q uw-imap package uw-imap is not installed cer@Telcontar:~>
To be clear, I run dovecot, which provides a faster and less buggy imap client than the old imap client.
When alive, Mark Crispin would say that the other implementations were doing it wrong, not following the RFCs :-p

I would like to issue a delete request against these two. Or is there anybody who wants to take over imap?
Does this mean we do not have any standard imap server nor client anymore?
I'm not sure what you mean by 'standard'. Is there a problem with Dovecot such that it doesn't fill this role?
Well, uw-imap was the reference imap implementation. Apparently Marc Crispin wrote the RFC, and implemented it to the letter. - -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R.
