I don't know if that's the problem here, but: If you have pam-32bit installed, you should make sure you also have pam_kwallet-32bit installed. (this should be done automatically via Supplements, but you may have installing recommended packages disabled... ;-) ) If that's not there, pam-config will refuse to add the necessary entry to the PAM config files in that case, presumably because a missing module might break 32bit applications.
