I agree with your conclusion, Zypper should implement a check of some sort and warn the user if it detects the root partition will potentially fill up to a 100%, For this to be done, I think if maybe there was a "--dry-run" option in snapper, so that we (or Zypper) could retrieve the space that the ensuing snapshot would take, it'd be possible since snapshot sizes are what is currently unaccounted for.
Yes exactly.
