It would be great if it was possible to override the geolocation somehow. Mirrorbrain locates me in the US, so upgrades to my NL system take a transatlantic roundtrip, while much faster mirrors are available in DE.
The country code for your mailserver's IPv4-range quite clearly says NL, and looking it up here (on our local geoip database), also says NL.
However, looking your IPv6 address, it belongs to Hurricane Electric, in the US.
Indeed, that server uses an 6in4 tunnel provided by Hurricane Electric. If there would be a way to force zypper to use IPv4 (or IPv6), it probably wouldn't be an issue though. For instance, when using wget or curl, adding a -4 on the commandline will force it to use IPv4, which in cases like these could be a solution. I would prefer that over having to manually select nearby mirrors, potentially picking 'bad' ones that may get out-of-sync without me ever realising that. [ several minutes later ] It seems such an option may already exist. There was a feature request for this and it looks like it is possible to set a variable in the environment to force curl to resolve IPv4 adresses only https://github.com/openSUSE/zypper/issues/49 I'll try this and see how it goes. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org
