Okay, too bad, that isn't much more information. Besides the *.err files in ~/.local/share/akonadi/, there is a mysql.err log in ~/.local/share/akonadi/db_data/, too. Could you search for errors there?
I did also check for the tmp file. It exists. If you delete it, it is recreated, and you get the same error message.
Good idea. An old socket might have causes your problems.
No way to repair from akonadiconsole either. Sees the folder but then gives the aforementioned error.
Sometimes the mysql.conf is outdated or the mysql database needs an update. But this should be in the mysql.err log.
