With the current kernel update I encounter the following problem. a) the system boots up but stays with a black screen b) after several boots it may be possible to arrive to the kde desktop. However, the process of loading the desktop can take over 40 seconds, up to a minute. First picture will be an "homage" to the technique of pointillism in pink mix colours that last about 10 seconds. It may the that the user loging icons appear randomly for some second on the screen ... before disappearing again. c) the system is unbelievably slow. I see only a small cpu load but it seems the OpenGL integration of KDE is not working well at all. I suppose this is because I am using nvidia GPU and therefore nouveau has probably some regression? d) there is no entry in the journal that complains about anything e) you cannot change the tty. ctrl+alt+Fn has no effect at all. Overall the system is so sluggish that it is not really usable, so I am considering the install of the proprietary nivida drivers. BTW, time ago I posted a bug report of VLC based Kaffeine dvb-t being broken. This is still the case. Even with 4,9.11 kernel that I loaded afterwards. However, 4.9 kernel is not presenting any of the extreme loading times and system sluggishness I am experiencing right now. I have the kernel stable Linux roadrunner.suse 4.10.1-2.g561cf31-default #1 SMP PREEMPT Mon Feb 27 13:06:34 UTC 2017 (561cf31) x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux on my old Intel based Lenovo X201 here. Runs great. So I really think the culprit is nouveau again. This is admittedly an old system. An AMD 64 3700 with 3 GB Ram and an 7000 Nvidia Graphics. But on the very same system I have a disc with Leap 42.2 that I can boot. There the boot speed is twice the one of TW, the Kaffeine is ver. 1 and works flawlessly. Yet there I am using Nvidia proprietary driver. Which may be the reason. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org
