I was not trying to say there is a problem with Leap download, or that one should use my steps instead of going to https://software.opensuse.org/422/en which has all methods, including the the metalink (I realize that). My motivation for asking was that I was surprised obtaining an ISO with an unmatching checksum, which I do not remember happen to me before. And I learned a few things from the responses, thanks
From what I see on the other thread, it appears that the checksum file itself has appended a PGP signature to validate the checksum itself.
