In each case, "wicked" refused to function but NetworkManager worked first time every time. And fwiw, I have *never* been able to get NM to work over the last several versions and have always been able to get ifup/down/config and now wicked to work. Go figure....
See my reply to Neil. There is a YouTube video on how to get wi-fi under NM working for 13.1. For 13.2 it is basically the same but one has to take into account that KDE 4.13.3 has caused some changes in the panel (the applet for NM seems to have disappeared - at least here it has :-) ) and that the Network Settings has been modified but still do the same job.
If you want I can send you screen captures of what I have.
If that's the 30-minute film then that's not what I want. I need a simple document that explains how to set up WICD. I assume that someone has updated the SDB document (https://en.opensuse.org/SDB:Wicd) for 13.2 but, of course, has not yet made it generally available to the public. I've tried using the above documentation but many parts such as using "ifup" for example and also the commands near the bottom of the "usage" paragraph. Needless to say, I still couldn't get WICD to work after using this documentation. It's possible that I missed the references in the YaST help panels for 13.2 on how to proceed with setting this up but that's the first place where such documentation should be. Come to that, by selecting "wicked" in the YaST setup I would have expected the main settings to be correctly set automatically. -- Graham Davis, Bracknell, Berks. openSUSE 13.1 (64-bit); KDE 4.13.3; AMD Phenom II X2 550 Processor; Kernel: 3.11.10; Video: nVidia GeForce 210 (using nVidia driver); Sound: ATI SBx00 Azalia (Intel HDA); Wireless: BCM4306 -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org
