I never claimed it would be. After all, transporting the bitmaps out of the render machine is the bottleneck, especially with latent Internet links and stream-protocolled ssh-tunneled X11 protocol. The only extra icing to get even worse performance is - probably - to go to a pre-XCB implementation.
