Can you give me more steps on how to reproduce this bug?
The bug shows already when you just call grub2-mkconfig. As soon as it reaches the step os-prober, it seems to hang as that no output is generated. Validating with ps, you can find out which program is currently running (started from os-prober). The one that takes forever to finish is a binary coming from lvm2 (I believe this was lvdisplay) The second one is during a normal shutdown. From KDE you click on shutdown and the system is preparing for shutdown. the Plasma desktop disappears, but a black screen remains and plymouth is not appearing. Switching to a virtual console shows that the desktop processes are in a defunct state and that systemd is hanging on a lvm binary. Two options to get out of this situation is either a hard shutdown (pressing the power button until pc switch off) or the second one is to kill the lvm process and then the pc continues the shutdown as normal.
and please tell me the buggy lvm2 version rpm -q --changelog lvm2|head
I don't have this version installed anymore, but it was the lvm2 package that is currently residing in Base:System (as indicated in the original email). The current version in Factory is working properly and without issues.
