Hi guys,
first let me say I am not really into printer drivers. I got hands on a lexmark X7170 for a while and out of curiosity I tried to get it running under openSUSE_Factory - no luck. Google says no one ever gotten this printer to work with Linux recently (Kernel 2.2 drivers had existed :D ).
Have you tried other Lexmark x-series printer drivers? Some of them show up on openprinting, and some of them might work. I usually just google other models until I find one that is similar enough, since protocols seldom change, so as long as you match printer capabilities you have a chance. Notice: a chance. Protocols do change sometimes, and sometimes in incompatible ways. But it's worth a shot. Once you find a driver that (mostly) works, reporting it to openpriting might get you better support in the future (how long? not sure) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org
