Hey, if you really wanted to save space and make openings for new packages... how about getting rid of KDE on the 'demo-disk'... and keep it in the main distro as one of the large kitchen-sink options. I'd think it was likely the largest (KDE/Gnome) and gnome is newer if that's the direction you wanna go -- though if size is important take off the biggest one from the DVD and add tons more smaller stuff...?
