Hi, there is something wrong in network installation, following: http://en.opensuse.org/SDB:Network_installation
under "Media free network installation" there is:
wget --output-document=oS-12.1.vmlinuz.install http://download.opensuse.org/distribution/12.1/repo/oss/boot/$(arch)/loader/...
$(arch) should be auto-replaced by i586 or x86_64
Well, here becomes i686 but on the server is i386 !
Using "Linux 32-bit Terminal" from KDE Main Menu, Applications, System, Terminals, which is Xterm that runs /usr/bin/linux32 (man linux32 for more details). :~> uname -i # hardware platform i386 :~> uname -m # machine hardware name i686 :~> arch # arch is alias for 'uname -m' i686 Regular terminal (KDE Konsole) gives in all three cases x86_64, which is correct.
So it' no clear to me if is a bug or what..
The replacement $(arch) should be only i386 or x86_64 as that is only what you can find in: http://download.opensuse.org/distribution/12.1/repo/oss/boot/ I have no operational 32 bit computer, so I can't check what is returned by utility 'arch', but it would be correct to mention that automatic recognition may fail and user should manually replace
Daniele.
P.S. I' ve replaced 12.1 with 12.3..
