Uhmm.. sorry, I don't understand what you mean here...
With 256Mb of RAM no live system. So I usually install from live media without booting the live system.
But no more live cd so I can only install from net but: 1) it's slow 2) this time didn't work
Now I've a 12.2 up and running and I'll dup to 12.3 soon..
When Intel changed from the i586 to i686 architecture, they added some new instructions. The kernels in the Live media need those instructions, but the NET install does not. My old laptop, which has an AMD K5, does not have those instructions, thus I could not boot the Live CD even when it fit on a CD.
