Why not make the default install install everything anyone might ever need? It's the principle of penalizing everyone over needs of a user subset that finds FOSS inadequate. Those who must depend on FOSS packages to meet their non-FOSS needs should be dependent on the non-FOSS packages to ensure meeting its dependencies.
