Re: [opensuse-factory] plymouth quirks with NVidia proprietary driver
now is a big shot... the no screen error I get myself too...
with grub2-efi/systemd/plymouth on some exotic hw (mac bookpro)...
on grub/systemd/plymouth I have no issues...

I think the module is loaded... it seems it fails to query the
display. I will check it again tomorrow.

Hi Sid,

good points... not all of them but still...
do you have grub2 or grub2-efi installed?

It's grub2. I have EFI in the BIOS set to Auto, my .config has
"CONFIG_EFI_PARTITION=y" and CONFIG_EFI is not set.

* nouveau loaded and I needed to install the proprietary nvidia 295.40
after
a zypper dup had overwritten
/usr/lib64/xorg/modules/extensions/libglx.so.

this is normal... is documented in the nouveau FAQ... pretty annoying...
restore the symbolic link and happiness is back.

Of course, quite normal.

* plymouth progress stops.
* Alt-F1 keyboard inactive for login but CTRL-ALT-DEL works.

* Only login access is via ssh from another box.

when you say this, you get a black screen?
can you check and post the log of xorg for failures?

The plymouth progress bar just stops.
Next kernel build I shall check it, Xorg.0.log.old says "no screens found"
but that was without nouveau modules loaded and the nvidia module not built.

again xorg errors...

Alin

Most likely cause is "no screens found" as they would be no driver at this
stage.

Sid.
