Quoting Dominique Leuenberger
I did have a look at spdy during the weekend. Once the 'google build system' is understood (and also the fact that not everything is in the svn repository, but needs to be collected by the 'google crawler' called, Chromium Depot Tools, it is not all that bad anymore.
There is currently a patched apache2 in home:dimstar and also a apache2-mod_spdy, which should add spdy support. By default, spdy is very defensive and needs to be enabled as a module and also using apache conf directive SpdyEnabled on; due to the 'beta stage' of the module, the default is non enabled in the upstream code base.
M{i,a}ster Darix just made me aware of another missing component: openSSL needs to be either patched or updated. For Factory, an update to 1.0.1 (which is the first version to carry the needed fix upstream) might still be viable, but it being openSSL is of course tricky :) Any comments on this or even plans to update openSSL to 1.0.1 for Factory? Then the inclusion of mod_spdy might be possible... If not, then there is little reason in shipping mod_spdy: the apache patch is guarded with version checks on openssl.
