I've been building and packaging it for tiff for Hylafax+ for a couple
years. Actually I supplied and maintain that one in the graphics repo.
No problems but I also never actually USE the jbig support specifically. I use the tiff and ghostpdl and hylafax+ all with jbig support enabled, a lot and in heavy production, but not specifically jbig faxes or pdfs so far.
I just know the upstream jbig-kit code has hardly changed in years.

The last JBIG patent expired today. See:
http://www.lightbluetouchpaper.org/2012/04/04/one-line-software-patent/
and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jbig
This means we jbigkit can be included in openSUSE and JBIG support can
be enabled in Splix.
I assume the legal team will still need to take a look at this. There
is a jbigkit package in OBS:Graphics. Is it stable enough to be
submitted to factory?
