As I know automounting is historically done through udev rules...
History has proved that some things are totally wrong.
Even sending dbus messages from udev rules is bad? I do not think sending
a dbus message will take much time.
No, that is fine, what isn't ok is calling mount directly from a udev
rule, that is what I was thinking you were wanting to do. If not, my
apologies.
