It's the job of the integrator to tweak the packages that they
work well with the rest of the system. Nowhere is statet that
we have to blindly follow upstream.

Agreed. But this is where most distributions will be going in the
future, I think.

I wrote this announce email on purpose, to raise the topic, to get
feedback (and unfortunately, flames, because people can't stay on
un-emotional technical only discussions on factory, apparently, which is
unfortunate) and see what we do about it and which options we should
follow.

Nothing is set in stone yet.
