I zypper'd IN KDE3 manually ad hoc. It opens looking normal, other than a really short list of classic menu selections (no Graphics, no Multimedia, no Utilities, even though such things have been installed), but when I try to select settings in the menu, all that seems to be there is a "Settings" header. When I try to run systemsettings from Konsole, I get this from the KDE crash handler:
System configuration startup check disabled.
[Thread debugging using libthread_db enabled] [KCrash handler] #6 0x0805c2ad in ?? () #7 0x0805dcf4 in ?? () #8 0x08060a6f in ?? () #9 0x080590cf in ?? () #10 0xb64464a3 in __libc_start_main () from /lib/libc.so.6 #11 0x08059269 in ?? () Backtrace stopped: Not enough registers or memory available to unwind further
For all I know this may be because what is installed isn't enough, and needs a dep that isn't classed as a hard dep - I keep solver.onlyRequires = true.
System restart fixed systemsettings and app starter. :-) -- "The wise are known for their understanding, and pleasant words are persuasive." Proverbs 16:21 (New Living Translation) Team OS/2 ** Reg.
