It is the security team's job to be paranoid, and the our job to make the software good enough and persuade them that it can be trusted. If you've been following the bugs you'll see that Ludwig submitted a patch earlier today to permit org.fd.NM.settings.network.own to the active user, but so far has (rightly IMO) not allowed wifi sharing because it a) runs a DHCP server, making the user effectively a network admin for all local networks and b) pokes iptables rules without consideration for the suse firewall.
