I forgot a few more benefits:
* lossless loging from the beginning
* easy display of system state (stuff like
systemctl list-units --failed - do this with sysv init!)
On real work systems, nobody cares what's printed on the console -
simply because there is no console attached. But people care how to
find out if startup worked. And they care for logs.
When you're installing or debugging a start-up issue on a production
system, the console log (direct/serial/ipmi) is very useful though.
