this is on a machine dedicated to testing purposes solely.
My approach is to have all different openSUSE flavors I am intested in
testing on this machine, plus some space left to be able to test new
installations (like the 12.1 rc1 I mentioned before) and a larger
separate partition to
- make partition backups of all installations
- store files that all installations can or need to access for testing
- store the downloaded packages for system upgrades
This results in installations on smaller partitions as usual... And
'smaller' here means _much_ smaller.
Hence disk space on these partitions is constrained and it has happened
in the past that a partition went out of space during an upgrade when
huge updates were due.
This is why all my installations have their packages-download-directory
on a separate partition (called backup) configured in zypp.conf like this:
packagesdir = /backup/packages/
