Hi all,
running a continuously updated Factory, I encounter a sound problem since maybe one week.
After boot:
susi:~ # l /dev/snd/ total 0 drwxr-xr-x 3 root root 220 Sep 12 11:56 ./ drwxr-xr-x 19 root root 3580 Sep 13 02:04 ../ drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 80 Sep 12 11:56 by-path/ crw-rw---- 1 root audio 116, 7 Sep 12 11:56 controlC0 crw-rw---- 1 root audio 116, 2 Sep 12 11:56 controlC29 crw-rw---- 1 root audio 116, 6 Sep 12 11:56 hwC0D0 crw-rw---- 1 root audio 116, 5 Sep 12 11:56 pcmC0D0c crw-rw---- 1 root audio 116, 4 Sep 12 11:56 pcmC0D0p crw-rw---- 1 root audio 116, 3 Sep 12 11:56 pcmC0D1p crw-rw---- 1 root audio 116, 1 Sep 12 11:56 seq crw-rw---- 1 root audio 116, 33 Sep 12 11:56 timer susi:~ # id seife uid=10329(seife) gid=100(users) groups=100(users),16(dialout)
So i get only the "dummy" output of pulseaudio and of course no sound.
For now I solved this with
susi:~ # chgrp users -R /dev/snd/
But that of course only persists until next boot :-)
Are users now required to be in the audio group? Wasn't this managed by some consolekit ACL magic before?
If it's just the audio group, I'll simply do that, but if this is considered a bug, then I'll happily file a bugzilla. I submitted bug #717397 for just this yesterday. Pulseaudio is also needs attention - 0.99.23 appeared in factory but couldn't be seen by zypper which insisted 0.99.22 was the latest. It' no longer there but there is an updated padevchooser which is dependent on
