Maybe. Question then is, does YaST and the sharing in Dolphin conflict?
Both modify /etc/samba/smb.conf _or_ make use of the net usershare feature or use the registry configuration feature (starting with 3.2 IIRC). Yes, we try hard to make the config matrix three-dimensional. :)
One knowing Dolphin better please spot light for us on this.
Yikes, that sounds rather complicated...
Dude, you sound rather lazy. It's not yet Friday. ;)
is there any way to simplify Samba?
See, here you have a mix of things and as soon as you mix stuff (think of a long drink) and you take it it sometimes makes your head turning round faster.
Or heck, is there another sort of filesharing thing like it that is less cumbersome?
Some will argue NFS. But even NFS got ACL support plus recent enahncements (richacls) to support NFSv4. So as soon as we're all living in the same ACLed world the difference isn't that big any longer. BTW welcome in this wonderful world. :) Lars -- Lars Müller [ˈlaː(r)z ˈmʏlɐ] Samba Team SUSE Linux, Maxfeldstraße 5, 90409 Nürnberg, Germany
