Or maybe just update the repositories and suggest the users to do an update?

Have you tried SUSE Studio? Need to create a Live CD, an app you want
to package and distribute or create your own Linux distro. Give SUSE
Studio a try. http://www.susestudio.com

Right, I'll unfortunately be at the Desktop Summit (leaving this
Friday), which likely means not enough time to work on a release --
especially the first one I'd do;-) On top of that, I'll then completely
disappear on Friday 12th, so I wouldn't be able to handle anything that
would happen late.
Maybe we can simply publish whatever we have, like you suggested, and
clearly label it more like a snapshot than a solid milestone?
Or maybe just update the repositories and suggest the users to do an update?
