Users who want systemd can choose it during install. But it's too big a change to be the default choice. I don't want to change, until it's been proven and polished for several years.
I don't want it until proven and polished either. In the mean time, for a fresh install I taboo systemd, and for upgrading from 11.4 I first 'zypper al systemd' to prevent having it usurp sysvinit. If this ceases to work before the polishing becomes adequate, I will either go somewhere where I don't have to wrestle with an immature boot system, or just not upgrade any production systems. Sometimes we don't like available choices, but least we as Linux users have some that other OS users don't. -- "The wise are known for their understanding, and pleasant words are persuasive."
