I have made this feature request. I feel that something like this is critical. Though I am not the most saavy user, I have always been able to resolve a problem eventually. However this one i have been forced to concede defeat. A Wizard allowing easy setup and use of my mobile broadband would be greatly welcome, and I doubt I am the only user in this boat especially since netbooks are becoming more popular.
The NetworkManager applets should do this for you already. That's assuming the modem hardware is supported of course.
See this blog post for information on upgrading the NM plasmoid in KDE, or using the GNOME applet instead if necessary.
http://mschlander.wordpress.com/2011/03/17/gnome-networkmanager-applet- in-k de- in-opensuse-11-4/ I doubt I am the only one that has had this problem. I have tried literally everything I can find, including these things. This is why I feel there needs to be a special utility for this sort of hardware. I hope to get some more answers from someone who may very well have the solution SeaPhor on IRC. If it is resolved I'll post the fix in the wiki and then update the openFATE.
NetworkManager _is_ that special utility for this sort of hardware. I suggest that if FACTORY doesn't work for you, with this hardware, then you work with the developers to get it to work properly. thanks, greg k-h -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org
