Hey Group;
I see two problems with 11.4 M5 and it's autogen and autoconf versions.
I had both as factory supplied version. Autogen in 11.4 M5 (5.11.1) failed to setup many files correctly. It would only make 2 or 3 levels deep as per example /usr/share/myfile/* I replaced it with 5.11.5 and thing work different. It now will works to at least 5 levels /usr/share/myfile/another/andmore. This was proven on BrlCAD source. Also autoconf is missing some of the development files request by a source. I replaced it with the same version and it now it works. This all was found while looking for why --exec-prefix=${prefix} is not found
This is also true with gpm. on a i586 and x86-64 AMD non Intel boxes.
Both were loaded via the NET
