Please note that I triggered the first mass rebuild over the weekend, so the next factory update will be HUGE again. It would be good to know if this fixes something magically - it would be hint that some more packages need to be rebuild automatically.
When did that hit the mirrors? Last night I zypper dup'd a radeon rv200 system using the M3 DVD iso as sole repo. Afterward with nomodeset on cmdline as had been configured, startx would cause the system to lock up roughly 2/3-way into starting KDE. Without it, KDE seemed to work normally. Shortly after, I disabled the DVD iso repo and reenabled the normal Factory oss & non-oss repos and zypper dup'd again. Since, I can startx with nomodeset on cmdline without locking up X. xorg.conf WRT vsync & PreferredMode at least seems to be ignored. The xorg.conf that worked in 11.3 does not work in M3+. To escape 1024x768 I must use 50-monitor.conf instead. Is this apparent ignoring of xorg.conf a new normal behavior? Is there some shell command that tells whether KMS supports the video chip in use? -- "The wise are known for their understanding, and pleasant words are persuasive."
