What's the problem with zypper se here? 'zypper in vlc' cannot find a
provider of libaa.so.1 either.

zypper se only searches in package names/summaries/descriptions. There's
not libaa.so.1 in them. You can try 'wp' to check what packges provide
libsaa.so.1.

Maybe in future we will add a capability to zypper se to search in
dependencies.
