That was sort of the case when X apps were still installed into
/usr/{X11R6,X11,openwin} and SuSE's bad habit to install distributed
packages under /opt, but those times are gone for better or
worse.

Well how do we get this going, should I open a ticket on openfate
to discuss this further and see if there's any objections?
It shouldn't be too much work, most of the stuff is from
Base:System packages. The symlinks should guarantee backwards
compatibility, anything I'm missing here?

Does it require anything else beside having /var and /tmp on
separate partitions?
