This is very complicated ?

No, that's not complicated at all. First, you could install the
terminus-font package and try the larger sizes (it offers 12x24,
10x20, 14x28 and 16x32 sizes which sould be much bigger).
Just set CONSOLE_FONT in /etc/sysconfig/console to ter-1<size>n.psfu
where <size> is 20, 24, 28, or 32 depending on your preference.

If you don't like it you can use pretty much any fixed-width
font. If it isn't already in PSF format you need to convert it
to BDF using a font editor and then you can use the bdf2psf
script(*) to convert it to PSF, gzip it, and put it in
/usr/share/kbd/consolefonts.

On comparing the CONSOLE_FONT="lat9w-16.psfu" entry in /etc/sysconfig/console
to the contents of /usr/share/kbd/consolefonts it's entirely clear which to
choose in order to get a legibly large enough console font, while the sheer
number of entries there has to make one wonder why you would suggest yet more
just to find one legibly large enough. What does 9w-16 mean? Where's the doc
that addresses this subject? Is this font choice in any way related to
http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=584493 ?
