FWIW, I reported https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=622288 to
make it easier to change default settings in the future.

OK. I did the patch, built the packages and installed it, created a new user and logged in as the new user to see what the default setting was --- indexing removeable media is now disabled by default. So I submitted the packages for review over at GNOME:Apps
created request id 41843
