Hi! I see that the tracker configuration is set to index removeable media by default. However this creates a problem when a connected USB-drive has lots of files, and you connect it for a short while and try 'safely removing' it. Tracker keeps indexing data from this drive, and prevents its unmounting until it is done, which in all fairness can take quite long. It might be better to turn indexing removeable media off by default in the tracker settings for 11.3, just as it is for Optical devices at present.
Sounds good. Want to submit a fix? :-)
Yes I can do that, but I don't know what is to be done to change the defaults for tracker. Can you help?
Sure: + create a patch that will change src/miners/fs/tracker-config.c to have DEFAULT_INDEX_REMOVABLE_DEVICES set to FALSE instead of TRUE + add the patch to the rpm (make sure to add a patch tag!), add a .change entry + build the package, install it, move your configuration away and see if the default is indeed changed + if it works, submit it! FWIW, I reported https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=622288 to make it easier to change default settings in the future. If you need more help, just ping me :-) Cheers, Vincent -- Les gens heureux ne sont pas pressés. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org
