Does this only affect gnome-packagekit? I guess KUpdateapplet could do the 
same then, or?

I guess there's no half way? I might be pro informing users about the new 
release. But I'm against pushing them to upgrade under the illusion that it's 
risk-free or even recommended if they're happy with the existing system.
