Something that concerned me, about the Unbuntu GRUB2 was it using
config files in /etc, and then a binary file in /boot. That seems
to make it harder to consolidate /boot amongst several
installations of same & different distro's, as the Master /etc
*must* be present.
What about lilo? >:-)
Come on, get serious! Lilo just works, so there is really no point in
using it. It would spoil all the fun!
