Refilwe: what's your experience with 64bit flash plugin ? Is it stable enough, causing less pain than wrapping 32bit ?
Absolutely, this latest refresh has ended my wrapping of the 32bit plugin. One of the first things I do on a new install of oS is to lock the "flash- player" package to "Taboo -- Never Install". This then effectively stops libflashplugin and all the rest from getting drawn in and interfering with the 64bit plugin. In my experience it also plays well with Opera and Arora in addition to Firefox. Only yesterday did I start toying about with Rekonq 0.2 so I cannot comment on that combination at this time. I also have not used Konqueror/KHTML for a while, and so cannot comment on that right now either. The only caveat I have is that I am not a big Flash user. My typical usage would include Dailymotion/YouTube type sites, International Herald Tribute/NYT video, and whatever ads that utilise Flash. I've occasionally looked at webpages that have won some admiration for their innovative use of Flash, but these are sometimes more about visual impact than any use of advanced features in Flash 10. A good Flash showcase site is: http://www.thefwa.com/ For me if the browser/plugin combo can run the following three sites without trouble and in the presence of other tabs...then I consider it usable for my browsing patterns: www.youtube.com (SD/HQ/HD) www.silenzo.fr (without hiccups) www.fortminor.com (full functionality - music plus navigation) I don't play Flash-based games but can certainly look into whether they work well.
