A very fresh DVD load of MIlestone 6 is again failing just like
Milestone 5 to play audio.
KDE4 is complaining about something that come on the screen and last about 5 seconds. It needs to stay on the screen longer. I think it is stating something about phonon and pulse having problems. So if has something to do with alsa - the error message is to short. A check of with yast2 shows all of both are installed. Yast2 Hardware Sound proves it the sound is working. But again KDE refuses to play any audio. KMIX will not even come up.
However, good news Amarok seems to work. But it only wants to see 20 of 1200 music files
