Thank you, Anders, and Martin (re the next post). It has now become a
lot clearer as to what is what and what to use.

Earlier (last night now  :-) ) I actually (finally!) installed MS6 (KDE
Live CD) but had to add the factory repos and disable the
'preconfigured' ones because YaST could not find the latter when it went
to check for updates.
