OK.But why we need Pulseaudio. In past Versions we had alsa.

No we don't. All desktop environments have needed a sound manager,
most of all because most sound hardware doesn't do sound mixing in
hardware and only ALSA offers its own mixer plugin. So environments
like enlightenment (ed), GNOME (esd) and KDE (aRts) all had their
solution for doing the mixing. Both choices had their drawbacks, for
aRts it was mostly that it was much much more than just a sound mixer
and thus overkill.
