Dominique,

I'm against always throwing up a yes/no choice, because it defeats the
unattended install case.

It seems to me that the key complaint centers around the fact that 'close' is
the default rather than 'summary', which requires an average user to have
special knowledge or go through extra effort to change the option to 'summary'
manually, or manually restart it.
Why can't the default be changed from 'close' to 'summary'? That seems like a
simple solution.

I think the key reason for choosing 'close' would be to do an
automated/unattended install for a series of systems, right? But most
unattended installs require saving an initial configuration, which would allow
switching the 'summary' choice to 'close' in that case. And the person doing
that would probably be a more knowledgeable user who is aware of that choice.

Andy

(just set yast the way you want it.. it's working great (ok: clicking
'back' might be a bit un-intuitive, but works fine).

Any idea how to improve it? Add an additional check box like

Imho by default the qt sw_single should show a dialog like "Operation
successfully completed. Install or remove more packages? y/n"

(with the default being "no", so the user can just hit Enter to get rid of it)

Maybe there should be a gui option to disable that dialog, for users who just
want the package manager to magically and instantly disappear without warning
when it's done. But I think this group of users is a very small minority ;-)
