[opensuse-factory] Puzzled by pulseaudio and the whole audio setup mess

Skype works
Audio in firefox is silent.
Messed with settings in paprefs, no change.
Running without pulseaudio ---

Can someone decypher all this and recommend a way out of the mess. kmix controls all OK. Running under kde3 on Milestone 3 latest factory update.
