Yes. Small but very annoying usability bug.
 In my case mails are ordered by date, most recent on bottom. I think kmail 
jumps to the mail dated after the last mail of the thread, which makes here 
forward jumps. I think kmail should consider the first mail of the thread -and 
not the last one-
