It works for me. I wasn't able to install the last snaphot, so I installed an 
one week old snaphost for x86_64. In each case, it included the last 
OOo-3.0.99.2 packages. I created a simple document in Writer and saved it 
without problems. I used KDE4.

Anyway, please report the bug. It might need more debugging. You might use OOo 
another way. There might be another problem on your system, ...

Hmm, it looks like a bug. Could you please report it as well?

I do not promise that we will fix all bugs immediately. We need to sort them 
by severity and priority. The "unable to save bug" will have hight priority 
because OOo is unusable with it. The bug with envelope printing will have 
lower priority and it might take weeks or months to get it fixed. Anyway, it 
is good to have it in the queue.
